Happy New Millennium
I spent NYE at my oldest friend Aubrey's. It was a good choice on my part. I put on a puppet show for his older son, he's 3. We ate dinner, talked, and watched the Alfred Hitchcock Marathon. After his wife went to sleep it was just the two of us watching Alfred. It was how we spent many a NYE when we were in JHS, HS, and College. It was great. It was real quality time.
I know I promised a end of the year rap up last entry but I think I'll forsake that. Here is the readers digest version. I started off the year very sick and in pain. I was depressed. I got better. Stop being depressed. I lost some friends and made many more much better friends. I discovered Slaid Cleaves. OK that was my year.
Now for something real. The year is nothing but convention. Tonight is the last airing of Idiot's Delight the world's greatest radio show hosted by the world's greatest DJ, Vin Scelsa. Vin is special beyond special. In an age of homogenization, with decisions made my focus groups not people, he is the last hold out for Free Form Radio. He does whatever he thinks works. He'll talk to guests for hours. He'll read from books. He plays music from every Genre. He is always ahead of the curve. He had Früvous as a guest the first time they were in the USA.
Tonight's show is amazing. I didn't get to hear it till after 1AM but the songs are making me cry. If there isn't a place in Heaven for Vin then its not Heaven.
Now his career isn't over. He has an internet radio show called Live at Lunch, tuesday-Thursdsays from noon till three. You can hear it at Live at lunch
He is also talking about getting a show on WFUV the worlds greatest radio station.
