I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.
Edgar Allen Poe

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
- H. L. Mencken

Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so
-Bertrand Russell

What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. No Harrowby, the common names we call things by do not matter — except to show how very dull we are ...

Can it get any worse?

I'm going to keep this short now. Basically a health update, I'm not up to doing much more. Last night my illness started moving towards farce. In addition to all the other problems I got nauseous. I ran into the bathroom to vomit smashed my foot against the door. I broke two toes. So there I was with my stomach killing me, vomiting, and with two broken toes. It was like something out of a silent movie. So last night I had all the symptoms at once. I had the high fever and chills, the spasms, and nausea. The only thing that got me through the night was talking to my friends. Leah called from school and set up a conference call with Carey. Then I was about to call Lisa when she called me. I was dividing everyone I know into two groups, those that will drain my energy and those that will make me feel better. They are all in the feel better class.

I then ended up calling Carey again when I was really feeling bad. She talked to me for half the night till the chills were gone. I would have flipped if I didn't have someone to talk to. Have I mentioned that she is an amazing friend recently?

I ended up not sleeping much. I woke up with really bad pain and was like that most of the night. At least it meant I was up to hear Richard Thompson on WFUV this morning.

I was going to write a little political piece too but Lawrence wrote exactly what I wanted to say. Here is a link to it. Don't Drink the Water, Don't Breath the Air. He gets extra Gordonpoints for the Tom Lehrer Reference.
