I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity. Edgar Allen Poe
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. - H. L. Mencken Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so -Bertrand Russell What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. No Harrowby, the common names we call things by do not matter — except to show how very dull we are ... -James Branch Cabell
February 11, 2016 - 8:59 p.m. I have to go to sleep half an hour ago as I have to wake up tomorrow at 4:13 AM. That means I am going to make this a very fast and very short edition of Wise Madness. I stayed up much too late last night. The problem is that I had to write last entry which not enough people read. As this cost me sleep and was a very good entry you should read it. Don't you want to hear about a great The Sea the Sea concert? I also wrote about volunteering at WFUV. I said some very nice things about one of the volunteers, Tom. Today I woke up, got dressed, and headed back to the station and volunteered for eight hours. Laura volunteered for the first time since we got the computers and I had to train her on how to use them. When I was finished Tom, you remember Tom, the one I said such nice things about? Tom said to Laura, loud enough to all to hear, "If you have any questions just ask me and I'll correct all the things that Gordon got wrong." Everyone laughed. So that's how I was thanked for saying nice things about him. I told him that I'd get my revenge here. But I won't do that. I'm far too much of a gentleman for that. I'll simply give you a simple dispassionate description of Tom. He's the Donald Trump of volunteer. He feels he can raise other's esteem for himself by vilely insulting others with no consideration of the truth. He is disloyal repaying kindness with cruelty. He's a nattering nabob of negativity. See I how noble I am by giving such a restrained and balanced depiction of someone that backstabbed me? He also questioned if people were really interested in what I ate all day. You wouldn't be My Gentle Readers if you didn't care. I had cinnamon French toast, cheese steak which is more roast beef with American cheese, roasted potatoes, tiramisu, death by chocolate, and peanut butter. I know you have no checked off, "reading what Gordon ate" from your to do list and have a great feeling of accomplishment. Now I have to go to post this as I am getting up in 7 hours and 15 minutes and I still have to post my blogs from 5, 10, and 15 years ago. I signed the Pro-Truth Pledge: please hold me accountable.
