I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.
Edgar Allen Poe

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
- H. L. Mencken

Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so
-Bertrand Russell

What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. Blues in the Night

Diaryland was down last night and I couldn't update. I don't have that much time now so I'll just write a short entry.

My father was improved yesterday, he got around without his walker but the doctor at dialysis thinks he should use it anyway till he's stronger. I did something really stupid yesterday. When I left for school I still had the keys to my mother's car in my pocket and she had to take him to dialysis. She tried calling a cab but couldn't get here fast enough. She ended up borrowing our neighbor's car. I picked him up so that wasn't a problem

Class went smoothly for a change. I can see that the class is still a bit skittish around me though. They've seen my dark side.

The Knicks actually won a game last night. The other team, the Raptors, was missing their best player.

I had a very rough night last night, I hardly got any sleep. I don't really know what it was too. I kept waking up. Sometimes it was stomach trouble, other times it was nothing in particular. I ended up watching TV and tossing and turning. I am not at my best today.

So today is Valentine's Day. Last year I wrote a Survival Guide to the day. I needed to read it this year. I hope some Richard Barone and Church of Betty goodness will get me through the weekend.

I signed the Pro-Truth Pledge:
please hold me accountable.
