I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity. Edgar Allen Poe
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. - H. L. Mencken Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so -Bertrand Russell What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. No Harrowby, the common names we call things by do not matter — except to show how very dull we are ... -James Branch Cabell
2001-03-26 - 05:27 a.m. I am such a Batnose. I've been sick for more that two weeks. I haven't slept through the night since Wednesday I believe. Yet I feel guilty about not updating last night. So now here I am at 5:22 AM updating. Now I do have big news. The worst seems to be over with my illness. Whatever was in my intestine seems to have cleared the constricted area so I'm not in pain. I even had some liquid nourishment last night, a glass of slimfast. So now comes the part where I am totally insane. I had been planning on calling in sick for the week. Now not only am I teaching I'm going down to visit Carey and see Dar tomorrow. Fortunately the plan was always for me to take the train down there. That's good since there is no way I could drive it. It shouldn't be that hard on me I'll be sitting the entire day. I think seeing Carey, Heather, and Lawrence, will be worth whatever extra energy I have to expend. TLC can do wonders. I signed the Pro-Truth Pledge: please hold me accountable.
