I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.
Edgar Allen Poe

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
- H. L. Mencken

Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so
-Bertrand Russell

What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. No Harrowby, the common names we call things by do not matter — except to show how very dull we are ...

"It's a far far better thing I do...

So I'm back from seeing Carey in Baltimore. I made it safe. **Cheers** Now that the suspense is over I'll just write a short entry tonight. I have to be up at 5 AM to volunteer at WFUV. I'll be there from 6 AM till 6 PM. Listen to 90.7 FM in New York and call in your pledge. Or go to WFUV.org where you can both listen to the live simulcast and join.

I'd like to thank Carey for writing my diary yesterday. You can't believe how good reading that made me feel. The only downside is that her superior writing might have spoiled my poor readers. In Carey's Guest Entry she said something I'd like to comment on.

I could go on and on about how amazingly supportive he's been of me and Neal from the very start -- something neither Neal nor I are sure we could've done in his position.
It's something I've amazed myself about too. Now though neither of us said it explicitly anywhere but to each other most of you most realize that I'd love it if Carey were more than a friend to me. Now I'm typically a jealous person so the fat that I'm not jealous of Neal is definitely out of the ordinary. Now I'm not surprised that I'm supportive. I think my future was predestined when I was in the ninth grade and read A Tale Of Two Cities. I identified with Sidney Carten back then. For those of you who don't know Sidney was in love with Lucy Manette who married Charles Darnay. He ended up giving up his life for Charles'. So I have had lots of mental preparation towards being supportive. What surprises me is that it's easy. I'm not making a sacrifice. I think the key is that while I'd love to be more than friends, Carey is still my best friend. That is really what the relationship is about. So what makes her happy makes me happy. The other thing is I really like Neal. We have more in common than great taste in women and music. Like Sherlock Holmes Said: "Its always simple after I explain it."
