With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

My mother is having more problems. Her blood pressure was so low they put her on IV fluids. My timing was good and I was there when they did it so I could hold her hand while they put in the needle. She didn't have enough energy to do anything today so I only stayed a short time.
I'll just say this straight out. I'm miserable. I'm filled with anxiety and I'm lonely. About the only thing that has given me a pick me up this week is the Mets. 1986 was a horrible year for me and the Mets won it all. Maybe history will repeat itself. They do have the best record in baseball. They won again tonight.
The weather decided to ignore the calendar and act like it is fall. I've gone from wearing the coolest clothes possible to my cashmere slipper socks. I still get sensual pleasure every time I put them on. My toes are nice and toasty.
