With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
May 04, 2008 - 2:20 a.m. I’m going to be brave. I have hundreds of photos that I just downloaded from my camera but I’m going to write this entry without using them. I’ll post them when I’m done with the editing. I’ll fall further behind in my photography tonight. Last night I went to see Red Molly at The Minstrel Coffeehouse in somewhat deep and dark New Jersey. Chris took the train from work and I picked him up at the Morristown station. I somehow timed so that despite rush hour traffic and the circuitous route I take through the Bronx to avoid the worst of it, that I arrived there four minutes before he did. We then went to eat at the excellent Morristown Diner and proved that we were both old by ordering Early Bird Specials. Then we were off to the venue. Chris was the official Red Molly photographer and I was the official “general help.” In other words I tried to not get in the way. Seeing Red Molly is beginning to become something like seeing Früvous used to be; I know so many people in the audience, the usual suspects. Last night in addition to Chris there was Lois and Greg, Todd and his family (Sorry and family), Abbie’s Parents Kathy and Herb, Sue and Alison (not my sisters), Bill, Jeff and his wife (yes another person whose name I forgot), and all the people whose names I can never remember. I also know many of the volunteers at the Minstrel so I was among friends. I was among a lot of people; The show as a complete sellout. Some people sat outside the auditorium and other were actually on the stage. The opening act was Rich Deans. The name was familiar to me but I wasn’t sure why till he sang Don’t Dig My Grave Too Deep. He introduced it by saying that it was recorded by Pat Wictor who got lots of applause and his friend from Australia, Iain Campbell Smith which got enthusiastic applause from Chris and me and nobody else. It really is a great song. This was the official Red Molly CD release party. There were balloons and cake and a raffle and you know what? I have finished editing the photos so I’ll show them to you. Mike Agranoff who books the Minstrel is famous of heckling the performers. He was well behaved in the first set but in the intermission I talked to him and told him I’d be disappointed if he kept quiet. In the second half he got in some good lines. It is 8 hours after I wrote that last line. I had to leave to see the Falcon Ridge Preview Tour. I’ll write about that tomorrow. Here are some of the pictures I took. ![]() People sitting on the stage. Here is the complete slideshow. Here is a video of Red Molly singing If I Had A Gun. This is why I’m sure to keep on their good side.
