With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
August 16, 2009 - 12:55 a.m. I went to Lisa's wedding today. This is the second summer in a row I went to a Frühead's wedding. Last year it was Melissa's. My suit was ready on time, I picked it up, came home, got dressed, and headed up to the Bronx for the wedding. In my closest thing to an idiot story today I got the time of the wedding wrong. It was 2:30, I thought it was 2:00. I was so proud that I timed things so perfectly and walked in the door at exactly 2:00. I wasn't the first one there so I had people to talk to. Another early arriver was Norma, the guest I knew best at the wedding. She runs the Uptown Coffeehouse. She brought her friend Jo who is also a folk music fan. We were the folkie contingent. When we found our seating assignments we were surprised and disappointed to find that I wasn't at their table. Fortunately I was at the next table and I sat adjacent to them. Here they are while we were waiting to go in. Jo – left, Norma – right I had met one person at my table, Yvette, once before, at Lisa's birthday party seven years ago. No matter I made friends with the people there. I even remember their names, Linda, Annette, Jim & Alice, and Yvette's daughter, damn, OK, I forgot her name. Also unfortunately my picture of my table did not come out well so I can't show them to you. I got there early. Norma and Jo got there early. Lisa got there late. As soon as she arrived the ceremony began. Here is Lisa and Al's first dance. People always seem to have trouble using my camera but here I am with Lisa and Al. Jim and Alice with Lisa and Al. Cutting the cake Here I am in all my glory. Did Project Spiffy succeed? The person I ended up spending the most time with was Jo. We danced quite a bit. During the course of one dance she told me that and a friend were fixed up with Mickey Mantle, and Whitey Ford! Her date was The Mick! Yes, I danced with someone that Mickey Mantle hit on. Are you in total awe of me? When I first started blogging Lisa was one of the top five people most often mentioned. Now that she lives in New England, I don't see her much so I don't write about her much. That's too bad. We met online. She was one of my first people I met. That was back in the days of AOL. When I discovered that you could search profiles I searched for women that mentioned Moxy Früvous and IMed them. Lisa's profile mentioned not only Früvous but that she could do Rubik's Cube. The first message I ever sent her was; "You're a Frühead and you can do Rubik's cube? Will you marry me?" I didn't mention that her being cute was a factor too. We started talking but was not interested in me romantically. I was still interested in being friends but she was suspicious of her motives. I had plenty of opportunity to change her mind as we saw each other at every Greater New York area Früvous show. Eventually I wore her down and she became one of my best friends. She has to rate high on my list of people I've been to the most concerts with. We've done plenty of other things together too. She was always dissatisfied with her life and a few years ago she decide to move to Massachusetts. That worked out as that's where she met Al. Now they are moving to Rhode Island. That's where Melissa lives too. I'll have to make trips visiting both of them. Take a look at the rest of the photos I took.
Hey, I actually got photos up the same day I took them. When's the last time I did that? As you can see I bought a brand new linen suit. I also bought a new black tie. I now need to amortize the cost. If you are planning on getting married and on inviting me please have the wedding in the summer.
