I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.
Edgar Allen Poe

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
- H. L. Mencken

Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so
-Bertrand Russell

What I have been telling you, from alpha to omega, what is the one great thing the sigil taught me — that everything in life is miraculous. For the sigil taught me that it rests within the power of each of us to awaken at will from a dragging nightmare of life made up of unimportant tasks and tedious useless little habits, to see life as it really is, and to rejoice in its exquisite wonderfulness. If the sigil were proved to be the top of a tomato-can, it would not alter that big fact, nor my fixed faith. No Harrowby, the common names we call things by do not matter — except to show how very dull we are ...

A Farewell to Air

Ive hit a technical snag so I cant write the entry that I planned to write today. That leaves me with an entry to fill. Ill probably keep it short.

Errata

In the early edition of my last entry I said I was going to see Jian and the Roches at the Walkabout Clearwater Coffeehouse. The problem is that Acoustic Live gave last years schedule. As a coincidence I received this years schedule in the mail yesterday and found the error. I did get to show off that I learned the strike through tag.

The big news yesterday is that I got a call from school about my schedule for next semester. It looks like Ill be teaching three courses again. I have to listen to the message again, I think it might be just two days a week. If it is then Wednesday will be a very long day with both a morning class and an evening one. As soon as I finish this Ill call and work out the details.

I talked to Stacey yesterday for the first time in a while. The good news is that it looks like shell be visiting in March. The bad news is that it looks like Carey wont be able to visit then.

This afternoon Im seeing Deirdre Flint deep in the wilds of Jersey. Mapquest doesnt know that Randolf, the town shes playing in exists. I had to call the library where shes playing and get directions. It looks like it will be pretty easy to get there.

I saw Michael Jordans last game in New York last night. I couldnt believe that people were making a big deal of it. He already has retired twice. I find it hard to get worked up over his third farewell. If I hadnt missed two games last week Id have skipped it and seen Were About 9 or Cadence Carroll last night. WA9 will be playing here next month and Ill catch them then.

Im feeling a bit lonely now. Im seeing Lisa on Wednesday maybe that will help. Im also feeling writers block. I better call it quits for today.
