With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Schools Out for the Winter

Hey look! I'm updating less than 24 hours after my last update. That can only mean one thing, I'm done with my grading.

My toughest job today was filling out the attendance from the sheets I passed out during the semester. If I had been good and done that at the end of every week I would have had a lot easier job today. That is the way of the world isn't it?

The grades were amazingly good considering how little they understand. That is a consequence of my counting attendance as a test. It not only raises their average by averaging in a grade usually in the 90s it makes them do better on the tests. That is of course the rational for counting attendance. I think I'm going to have to start making my tests harder. Here are the grade breakdowns by class. I am lumping all the same letter grades together (eg. B-, B, B+).

The median in the early class was C+ in the last class B. I think the late class has the highest percentage of students getting A or B of any class I ever taught. Most semesters I fail so many students. So even though I found them trying they did well. Does that make me a good teacher?

After I finished the grading I took things easy, really easy. I've been having some problems with my skin, I have a bad itch over most of my body. Lena suggested that I take a bath with baking soda. I did some online research and found that baking soda and oatmeal was what was recommended. I went out and bought some baking soda, I had oatmeal in the house and tried it tonight. It is where I spent most of the evening. I entertained myself by calling LORi. Well I had her entertain me. She did a very good job of it too. All in all it was the most physically comfortable I've been in ages. I'm starting to itch again now in the parts of me that weren’t immersed but I'm still feeling better than I usually do. In the last 6 nights I've seen 4 concerts and spent quality time with friends each time. Tonight I took a warm bath and spent quality phone time with another friend. I'm incredibly moist. I don't think I'm going to be doing better than I am right now.

I promised you some photos of the Kennedys. I'm not going to even do a slide show. I'm going to talk a bit about each one.

This is why John Platt called them "the best dressed act in folk music."

Has anyone else noticed that Maura is sort of cute?

Think she's feeling the lyrics?

Here they are Uking out.

Carey used to say she'd pay just to watch them looking at each other.

If Maura weren't cursed so that most pictures of her don't come out I'd have a lot more to show you.
