With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Groovelilyin' on a Friday evening

Today started very strangely. Something woke me up around 8 am and I was able to get back to sleep around 9. I woke up on my own and looked at the clock, it said around 10. I went to the bathroom, got on the computer and noticed that the first forum post on FHDC that day was at 12:05PM. That didn’t seem right since it was only a few minutes after 10. I then looked at my computer clock and it was 12:15. I looked at my watch and it was 12:15. I looked at the alarm clock I looked at when I woke up and it said 12:15. Somehow I lost two hours. I don’t know if I misread the clock or if I fell asleep after checking the time and didn’t realize it. Maybe I was picked up by an alien space ship? That would explain my fleeting memories of rectal probes.

Today I didn’t do much other than drive my mother to and from her friend’s house. After all that sleep I was still tired.

Tonight I went to see GrooveLily at Ars Nova, a really nice little theatre on West 54th street. This was the longest show I ever saw them do, two 45 minute sets. The demographics were skewed, I was younger than most of the audience.

After the show I waited around a bit to talk to them but by the time they came out I had to leave for my train. I did get to talk to Gene, the one I most wanted to talk to. First I had to make sure he got my thank you for playing the Budgiedome. I sent a thank you email to Valerie and Brendan but I didn’t have his addy. When I went up to him he said, “do I know you?” I said “Budgiedome” and then it clicked and he said “Gordon.” I thought that might happen. When he met me at FRFF I had the big white hat and the big black sunglasses on.

The other thing I wanted to ask him about was why he and his drum kit were enclosed in Plexiglas. There were Plexiglas walls erected on the riser he was sitting on. I told him the three theories we came up with in the audience.

  1. They were to prevent the drums from falling off the riser.
  2. They were to help control the sound of the drums so we would primarily here them through the sound system.
  3. The theatre manager was afraid that Gene would be like King Kong, go berserk, and kill everyone in the audience.

What do you think the answer was? It was 2 but Gene said he liked 3 better. Gene is my kind of guy, he has an evil sense of humor.

I think the thing I really like about FRFF is that I always have friends around and someone to talk to. When I’m home, most days, I have no one to talk to.
