With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

The only way to find the limits of the possible is by going past them into the impossible.

I see the Throgs Neck Bridge

It's catch up time on Wise Madness. I haven't left my apartment since my last entry but I have old business I never took care of, photos and videos. Before I get to that I did something I haven't done before. I often write songs. I usually soon forget them and they get lost in the ether. Nobody else ever hears them, except for a few funny filks and the ones I sang for Carey. In the shower without trying to I put a Tolkien poem to music.

Tall ships and tall kings three by three.
What brought the from the foundering land,
Across the sundering sea?
Seven stars and seven stones,
And one white tree.
When I got out of the shower I got out my mp3 player and recorded it with the voice recorder setting. I sang it of course in the place in the world I sound the best, my shower. Sure it's bad and I change keys in the middle of a line but now I can recreate the song if I want to. I might start doing this more often. Don't worry I'm not going to subject you to my singing.

Now on to my photos. Last week I went to Fort Totten, Little Bay Park, and Whitestone. I broke the photos down into three albums.

Fort Totten

What I love about the fort is the contrasts. It's a study in contrasts. It's a utilitarian training ground for the Army, Police, and Fire Departments, It's a historic fort, and a public park in a beautiful location.

The buildings range from derelict, to function, to restored.

There are beautiful vistas, ugly storage depots, and men training.

There are dogs, cats, and the Loch Ness Monster.

There is art, sports, and gardens.

Here's it is all together.

The Throgs Neck Bridge

I've always thought of The Throgs Neck as my bridge. It is my platonic ideal of a suspension bridge. I remember it being built as a kid. When we were driving Sue or I, whoever saw it first, would sing; "I see the Throgs Neck Bridge." So here is my tribute to it. I walked around it as far as I could on the Queens side to get different perspectives. This involves risks. They are doing repairs to the bridge and to thwart saboteurs they put up this sign:

Notice it didn't stop me. I missed my calling, I should have been a spy.

One more sign, just for fun.

Now on to the slide show.

Little Bay Park and Whitestone

I enjoy not only the park but the people enjoying the park. I couldn't get a good photo of the man on the other end of the strings but here is a kite I'd love to have.

Now for the still pictures.

I love taking walks and exploring. Do you? Would anyone like to join me some time?
