With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2002-02-05 - 12:05 a.m. I'm listening to Bach Organ Works now. I used to listen to this kind of thing more often. My vinyl collection had a lot higher percentage of classical music. I don't like classical music any less that I did then either. It is largely a matter of cost; I never found a place to got lots of cheap classical CDs that I actually want. I should look harder; it is a crime that I don't have any Bach Harpsichord pieces or Beethoven sting quartets. I also need Walter Carlos' Switched on Bach an early landmark of electronic music. Walter was the first master of the moog (that's pronounced with an "O" as in Boat not an "oo" as in boot.) He is now a mistress of the moog as he is also probably the most successful transsexual; she now records as Wendy Carlos. I bet someone is going to tell me that she's been dead for years now. It could be. Walter or Wendy, he or she rocked the Kasbah. I had a weird class today. I lost my dry erase marker and class was delayed till I could borrow a new one. Then I spent almost the whole time on homework. The upshot of it all was that I didn't cover enough ground to assign them any homework. They were happy but they shouldn't be. It just means more work later and with less time to do it. People can never understand things like that. I apologize to Jaci for misquoting her about math. Read her correction and make lessen my guilt. Lay the former CEO of Enron refused to testify before the house committee investigating the debacle. He is now going to be subpoenaed. This should be fun, I'm sure he will just take the fifth, just like all the other mobsters. The department of justice does not see the need for an independent council. The fact that the attorney general and the entire Texas branch of the department had direct ties to him and had to recuse themselves from the case doesn't mean anything to them. The person currently in charge of the investigation worked for the law firm that represented Enron before he took the job. I can't believe that even Republicans are so stupid as to not to see that is wrong. They just hope they can get away with it. They spent 8 years attacking Clinton's ethics while getting in bed with the largest con game in history. That's it for today I think; perhaps tomorrow I'll be inspired.
