With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Good news all around yesterday. They caught the sniper and the Giants won. People were very hard Sheriff Moose and the police during the case and I don’t understand why. How did they expect them to catch the sniper? ESP? I’m amazed they caught him as fast as they did. Someone I worked with, a Russian immigrant said that police in this country allowed this to happen? How? She seemed to think they were deliberately not arresting him. This is a brilliant woman, a physicist, yet away from her area of expertise she thought with her glands not her brain.
My finite math class accepted their poor grades and took it as a wakeup call to work harder, just like they should. All except one student. He cheated. When he confessed I offered him the same deal I did the girl in the other class. I’d give him a 0 but give him half credit for every question that he answered correctly and handed in next week. His response was to say during the break that he was going home to do the work. He was going to cut the rest of my class and was telling me this like I’d be proud of him. I told him to do what he wanted but he wasn’t fooling anyone. He reluctantly came back for the second half. I bet I don’t see him again till the next test.
The WFUV Fall drive starts Saturday so I’ll be busy and happy for the next nine days. Next weekend I’ll be doing four of the best things in the world; volunteering at FUV, going to Richard Thompson concerts, seeing Carey, and seeing Leah.
Grrr. Leah just told me she might not be able to make it. Send us lots of positive thoughts. Carey and I will be very disappointed if we don’t see her.
I talked to Betsy last night. We have to do that more often, I mean she is my favorite.
I spent a lot of time yesterday looking up baseball stats. The more you look at the stats the better Barry Bonds looks. He is just head and shoulders above everyone else. I can’t really think of anyone else alive in any field of endeavor that is so much better than the next best person in the field.
Let me see, I’ve talked about baseball, music, and friends. I think that’s covering enough bases for one entry.
