With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

oO Get in the Car Oo

I just realized that I might not get a chance to update again till Monday. Tomorrow I’m playing in a bridge tournament and I’m going down to visit Carey on Friday.

I picked up my car today. The salesman picked me up at 3:00 to get the car. It wasn’t ready yet because they were having some trouble with the emissions testing machine needed for the inspection. While I was waiting around I checked out the Honda hybrid car. I liked the way it looked and I loved the mileage, 56-mpg/57-mpg, city/highway. The car just isn’t very practical though. It is the size of a typical compact but it is a two-seater with out a trunk. There is very little room for anything. It is fine for commuting to work or running out for groceries but that is about it. They will have to make them more practical if they expect them to catch on.

My car gets 32-mpg/37-mpg. That makes the environmentalist in me happy. It is also nice for my wallet.

Gella paid me a great compliment in her diary, she said I was a true friend. I don’t know if it’s true but I’m glad she thinks so. Once again I’ve been thinking about how I’ve replaced the difficult people in my life with friends. It makes life so much easier.

Lawrence just wrote an entry where he discussed his “perfect girlfriend.” I’ve thought of doing that and like Lawrence gave up. I have no idea what my perfect girlfriend would be like. Well if Maura wanted to leave Pete that would be close enough for me.

Do you ever worry about people you write about finding your diary? Notice I didn’t list Pete and Maura’s last name; I didn’t want to risk them finding it on an ego search. I’m sure they would just laugh if they did though.

This weekend Carey and I are seeing DVN and David Morreale and maybe Dave’s True Story, or maybe Carbon Leaf. Everyone seems to be playing this weekend. It might just be DVN and David. That would be enough to keep us happy. We can always find something else to amuse us the rest of the weekend. Carey is pretty amusing all by herself.

My entries are usually longer than a page. Part of me is feeling that I should find something else to write about. I’m going to resist the temptation and leave this entry short.

Damn, I thought that last paragraph would put me over the top, it didn’t’. Neither did this one.
