With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
May 02, 2008 - 11:59 a.m. Ninnyhammers! In my haste to update yesterday I totally forgot to write up what I did on Wednesday. So does anyone know where I got “Ninnyhammers” from? If you do let me know. My plan on Wednesday was to go to the Met game, they played in the afternoon. Before I bought my ticket I got a call from Larry. He got tickets from somebody at work; not just tickets, visiting player tickets. They actually came from the Pittsburgh Pirate Trainer. We thought they’d be behind the Pittsburgh dugout. They weren’t but we couldn’t be too disappointed. They were on the field level right behind the plate. Yes we got to watch the game through the protective netting. It was great. Well the seats were great. They game wasn’t. It was actually the worst game I ever went to. The Mets lost 13-1. Know what? We still had a great time. As Larry said, that’s the beauty of baseball. We just sat there relaxed, talked, and every once in a while checked to see what was going on in the game. I took pictures but they are still in my camera. The game was delayed by 40 minutes because of a water main break. We weren’t quite sure why that meant delaying the game but figured there was a good reason. I had been planning on seeing the fabulous Deni Bonet that night but I’m hearing live music four nights in a row and five out of six and the timing was awkward because of the delay so I stayed home instead. The semester is winding down and I have a lot of work to do. I have to make up tests and finals for both my classes. One of my students is going back to China before the finals week so I have to have it ready by next week. I am thinking of being a softy and doing something I never do but the students love; making up a mock final with the same sorts of questions as the real final but different numbers. I’ll see if I have the time and energy to do it. Last night after school I went to the Living room for a music doubleheader. At 9 PM Katell Keineg was on. I have been a fan of her since her first album but have never seen her perform. She has a unique voice. Listen to this mp3 of Beautiful Day She was born in Brittany, grew up in Wales, and moved to Ireland as an adult. She is now back in Wales. She sings in four languages, none of them Breton or Welsh which she speaks. Lets see if I can remember what she sang in; English, French, Portuguese, and Latin. Yes Latin. Despite the long wait to see her she was not a disappointment. I will have to see her again Next up was the adorable Amy Speace. Amy gives me a hug whenever I see her so you know she has good taste. I ran into her before Katell went on and we talked to the show started. It looks like she’ll be playing the Budgiedome this year. She is one of those people that simply runs in the same circles I do. A few FRFFs ago she accompanied Eric Schwartz on stage. Red Molly covers one of her songs. As a matter of fact she is on the guest list for tomorrow’s show, along with me and Chris. I’ll be seeing her then too. Meg Braun was in the audience. Amy then mentioned that she is going to see Jud Caswell, another The Budgiedome alum. That reminded me that I want to ask him back. She said she’d mention it to him. Oh yes, Elisa was in the audience too and I sat with her and her friend Nichol. This is the first time I was able to remember Nichol’s name. I usually refer to her simply as “Elisa’s friend.” I made the mistake of staying for the first song by the act after Amy because Amy asked me to. That led to my missing my train by two minutes. I got home at 1 AM instead of 12:30. I would have made the train if the F Train didn’t just sit in the station for a few minutes. That led to my just missing an A train that would have gotten me to Penn Station with time to spare. Here are my upcoming music plans. I shouldn’t see them all but it is going to be so hard to resist. Tonight – Red Molly Here is my school work. Tuesday - TMAT Test Does anyone know how I can be in two places at once?
