With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

My car died last night. I was driving home from a wonderful evening of music, film, and friends. North by Northwest was proceeded by a concert by Sex Mob. I went with Lisa, Carolyn, and Fred. I got about 10 blocks when the engine kept running but no power was getting to the drive train. The transmission went. It costs too much money to fix so I'm getting a new car, a used one. To pay for it I'm selling my ExxonMobil stock that I've had since I was born. There are all sorts of headaches involved. Nothing is ever easy.
I'm just glad I have friends to get me through this.
