With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2002-10-14 - 1:05 a.m. I didn’t do anything today. I didn’t even mark the papers I needed to mark. I’ll try and get to them when I’m waiting at the hospital tomorrow. She’s having cataract surgery. I don’t know how long it will take but I figure it will be most of the day. I’m really tempted to write about politics but I’m afraid that all I’d do is rant. I’ll just say that there seems to be very little intelligent discussion going on, just emotional appeals. I just heard that one of my senators, Chuck Schumer, wants to make it a law that everyone who buys a gun has to get fingerprinted. I’d love it but it will never pass. Maybe some sort of stronger national gun control can be passed in light of the sniper in the DC area. I wonder why I have nothing to say today? I’m going to take Tom Lehrer’s advice. He said that “He’s tired of stories where characters go on and on about how they can’t communicate. If they can’t communicate they should at least have the good grace to shut up.”
