With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

September 15, 2008 - 6:56 p.m.

I have a date to get waterco-op boarded.

As I do all too often I procrastinated too long and now I have to rush to update.

The co-op board meets on Wednesday night. Wish me luck.

Larry and Diana just read that and said, "Thank god. How much do we have to bribe them to make sure they get him out of our house?"

I don't really know they said that, well how could I? I haven't posted this yet so they haven't read it. The tenses are a bit ambiguous. It will be the past by the time some of you read this.

Yesterday Larry and I went to the Met game. It started great. My favorite pitcher Oliver Perez gave up a couple of early runs but then didn't allow a hit after the third inning. He lasted seven. My favorite position player, David Wright hit two home runs and had four hits. So what went wrong? In the ninth inning their closure de jure Ayala blew the two run lead. The Mets make every game exciting.

This morning I took the subway to school instead of driving in with Larry and Diana. I figured it would be more predictable. So what happened? The train got caught in traffic. I'm not kidding. We lost about 20 minutes. I still made it to school in time to even get a bite to eat but I lost my relaxing time. I did get to read the paper on the way down, I love that.

I am having the best chemistry with my classes than I've had in a while. That makes teaching so much more enjoyable. I have enough students that participate in class and some even like talking to me socially before and after class. Of course what really matters is that my jokes are going over well.

The reason I have time pressure now is that I had planned on seeing Maura and Pete Kennedy Wednesday night. Now that I can't make it I want to see Pete do his solo show tonight at Banjo Jims.

David Ippolito wrote a song about our beloved Cupcake.

That's Christine Lavin you hear doing the cameo dialogue. Angie McKnight is female singer.

I have a new officemate this year that I actually like talking to. I have other ones that talk to me even when I have my headphones on, or I'm busy working, or even on the phone. They are good people and I like them but for the most part I'm perfectly happy not talking to them when we are here together.

Now I'm going to run. More tomorrow.
