With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Money to Bern

I don’t have time for a full update tonight but tomorrow I’m going out early so I can’t update then so I’ll so a short one now.

Tonight I went to see Dan Bern at the Bowery Ballroom. I actually drove because it is right over the Williamsburg Bridge and the trains only run once an hour on the weekends. I got there in less than half an hour. That meant I was the first person on line. A total. I didn’t know the second person but the third and fourth were Phyllis and Heather who joined me. There was no actual need to get there early. They let into the bar a little after 7 and into the venue at 8. The opening act got there at 9. If we had gotten there then we could have stood right up front anyway. It was a very late arriving crowd. Lisa and her boyfriend Victor got there at a quarter to nine and joined us without us saving a spot for her.

The opening act, Navigator was good but didn’t make a big impression on me. They are in the “I’d give them another chance” category.

Dan was really on tonight. He did a nice mixture of songs off his new album and old favorites. He even did Aliens Fucked the Monkey for the first time in ears. He was really energized by the crowd and being in New York. He’s spent a lot of time here since late summer keeping busy musically and politically. I have never seen him as political as he’s been this year. I had my first ever interaction with him on stage and have no idea what it was about. At once point while he as tuning people started shouting out requests. When he was done he looked straight t me, winked, and nodded his head like we had some sort of understanding. We don’t, I have no idea what it was about. After the show everyone else hung around to get merch but I went straight to my car. I’m visiting Leah tomorrow. she’s in Atlantic City for the weekend. I want to get an early start so I can spend as much time as possible with her. With that in mind I’m going to call it a day. If you haven’t had enough of me may I suggest you read my last entry . I think it was particularly good and I know a lot of you missed it.
