With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Ascending Descending

When I woke up and turned the radio on this morning Darren was playing Fingertips by TMBG on WFUV. I think this was the first time I heard anyone other than Claudia play them. Nice way to wake up.

What exciting things can I talk about today. Yesterday after updating I did laundry? Want to hear all the exciting details? I have to check to see if I won the Mega Millions, if I did, I’m never doing laundry again. I’ll let you off the tenter hooks now. I didn’t win. Nobody won the big prize so I’ll buy a ticket today.

I saw Erik The Viking yesterday. It’s one of those movies I can’t believe I never saw before. It was written and directed by Terry Jones, with music by Neil Innes, and the cast included, Tim Robbins, Jones, Innes, John Cleese, and the guy who played Percy on Black Adder. It was a strange mixture of Icelandic Saga and farce. Not surprisingly it reminded me of a Terry Gilliam film.

Starting this week I’m going to be tutoring two people a week. I can really use the extra money. I have to save up my money to fly out to Chicago for a possible house concert by a certain sausage. Don’t worry if that makes no sense, sometimes the jokes aren’t meant for you. If you know anyone in the NYC area who needs a tutor in math, physics, or test preparation, send them my way. I really am very good. I’m charging the people I am tutoring the friends and family rate, since they are the kids of friends. I really have to get some more people to tutor. I know enough HTML to make a web page to advertise my services. The problem is getting someone to actually find the page. Maybe I’ll try it and see if I can get anyone. I don’t want to be flooded with responses anyway. If I could tutor five people a week that would be great.

I think that’s all I’m alert enough to write now. I never like it when I can’t wrap things up nicely. I often end with a poem when that happens. Today I’m going to end with one of my favorite pictures Ascending Descending by M.C. Escher. This image can be found at FantasticArts.com
