With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
August 19, 2009 - 2:52 p.m. If I had a decent computer I'd have finished posting this entry. I've been editing photos and that takes forever. It takes forever to switch from one window to another. I'm buying a new computer ASAP. How do you suggest I go about it. Please don't say get a MAC. I know it's better but it is also more money and I'll have to switch things over and I'm not going to do that now. So how do you suggest I pick out my new computer for under $1,000? preferable far under. Now for some actual content. A lot has changed since my last entry. Most important of which is that I now have not one but two air conditioners installed. Alphonso came up around 11:30 and installed my bedroom unit that I had already assembled. The reason I couldn't do it myself was that it was really a two man job, one to hold the AC and the other to close the window on it. It also helped that he had a screw gun. I'd have had to drill holes then put in the screws. It took him only a few seconds with the gun. After that he went to lunch and we met at my car at one where the living room unit was. He brought it up on the dolly. I stayed in my nice cool bedroom while he installed it. I hadn't slept much the previous two nights from the heat. It was such a relief to be comfortable and such a luxury to have someone else install it for me. I napped while he did the work though I had to give him a little help with the assembly. The instructions were not the best. It was a big job as it is a big unit. He had to install a sleeve for it first. It took him a couple of hours but now it is in and keeping my apartment as cool as James Dean. I got one big enough to even keep the kitchen comfortable. The one good thing about not having an AC till now is that I appreciate it more now. Never again will I live in a sweat box.
I got there at 7:40 and had a lot of time to kill. I found Amy and set up the merch while she went out. Here's what the merch table looked like. The show was booked since Falcon Ridge and not well publicized. That really held down the crowd. Too bad, Amy was great. When isn't Amy great? She even had a new song, another rocker. At Falcon Ridge she didn't have the band she only did the acoustic songs. Here she had the Tear Jerks and they rocked the roof off Southpaw.
I wanted one picture of where the dress wasn't covered by a guitar and Amy insisted that I be in it too. I'm getting a lot more photos of myself since I grew a beard. Beauty and the Beast Amy was actually the opening act. The nominal headliner was Mitch Easter. If the name is familiar it's most likely because he produced REM's first two albums. His band sounded like they belonged in CBGBs. As a matter of fact I think I saw him there. Dig the Jetsons Guitars Here is the slide show of the rest of my photos. The show started late and went on longer than I expected so I got home far later than I had planned. I wanted to be back by 11:30, it was actually 1:10 AM. That's why I didn't update last night. I was disappointed to see how much it had cooled off. I would have been perfectly comfortable without AC last night. As it was I needed it because I can no longer use the bedroom window that has the AC in it. It heated up during the night and was uncomfortable outside by the time I woke up so it was probably for the best. Tonight I'm off to watch the Mets. When it's over I'll come back to my nice cool apartment.
