With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
September 22, 2006 - 3:56 p.m. I didn’t get to update in my office today and I’m going to be out late tonight so I’ll try and squeeze it in during my pit stop at home. This shouldn’t be too difficult, as I don’t think anything has happened since my last update. I managed to waste most of yesterday. Most crucially I didn’t go to see what I can get for my mother’s car. I absolutely have to do that tomorrow. I need to sell or donate it by the end of the month when the inspection comes due. My mother was able to talk a tiny bit yesterday. She sounded terrible but at least she said something. The doctor says she doesn’t have long but that he could be wrong. He doesn’t know a reason for her to be dying but apparently she is. Have I mentioned this is hard? I didn’t go out last night, which always makes things more difficult. It is best when I keep myself busy. Sue is doing the exact opposite she is canceling her social plans. I kept myself occupied reading Amazin’ Mets: The Miracle of ‘69. It is a collection of articles that ran in The Daily News that magic summer. One thing that really struck me was how many times the moon landing was brought up. Those two historic and inspirational events were intertwined in our thinking. We knew that we lived in a time when anything was possible. I've written about The '69 Mets before. What I said then still holds. Their winning the World Series might not be the best thing that ever happened but there aren't many things that can make me happy by just thinking about them 37 years later. Now I'm stuck without a book to read I'll have to find something. Tonight I'm volunteering at The Minstrel Coffeehouse. The headliners are Björnsdotter • Reid two fiddlers from Sweden. I have never seen them but they sound interesting. The opener is Burlap Lute who play late medieval and Renaissance dance music. I'm largely going because I volunteered to be the sound assistant. I want to learn how to do sound at a concert so I'm serving my apprenticeship. I know music and the physics and I'm technophilic so I don't think I'll have any trouble learning.
