With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
September 04, 2007 - 8:33 p.m. I really should be posting my pictures from SMAF now but they aren't ready. I've edited them but I haven't chosen which ones to post. I only have something like 140 pictures so it isn't that big a job, not like the 1600 I had at FRFF. So I pretty much vegetated yesterday so there isn't that much to write about. Today was busier. I had routine maintenance scheduled for the oil furnace this morning. I told them to call before they arrived. I was of course the first one on the list and got a call at 7:40 and told that the guy would be there in 15 minutes. He didn't show up till 8:20. I could have used that extra sleep. I used the time to actually eat breakfast first thing in the morning. Today's menu was sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin. I tried to get back to sleep and was able to take a short nap. It couldn't be a good one because I had to pick Alison up at the airport at Noon. The plan was for her to call me when she got off the plane. I can get to Laguardia in about 12 minutes so that works. The thing is her plane got in early and I had just gotten out of the shower. I got dressed quickly and drove right there. Her bag was of course the first one off the plane so she had to wait for me. I always get there too early, this is the first time I've ever been late. She only had to wait about 10 minutes. When I picked her up I asked her if she wanted to go out for lunch and she said yes. The problem is that we like different kinds of restaurants. I decided to be a bit more adventurous than usual but I couldn't think of anyplace to go. We decided to just drive to Corona which has tons of places and look around and go to the Lemon King for dessert. As we got closer I remembered the place I ate at with Emilie when she visited years ago. I didn't remember the name or the exact location but I knew it was near the Lemon Ice King and that hey had this ridiculous looking cartoon chicken as the logo. I didn't even remember what the cuisine was, I thought it was from the Islands. I was wrong; when we got there I found that it was Peruvian. The place looked different to me but two places couldn't have had that ridiculous chicken so I knew it was the same. I talked to them a bit and found out that they now had two restaurants and the one I went to was across the street. The menu was different from the first time we went and the difference was for the better. Not that we could tell by looking. It was all in Spanish and we both took French as our foreign language. Can you do better? Take a look at the menu. The waitress had to explain it to us. We ended up getting a dish for two. First came a salad then a collection of meat in a metal container. There was beef, chicken, lamb, and sausage, along with two potatoes. It was really good and very reasonably priced at $18. We then walked over to the Lemon Ice King for desert which we ate in the park there. I discovered something I never noticed before in the park. There are two barbeques. Not those stone or brick things you often see in parks but these huge fancy metal ones. If I lived in that neighborhood I'd use them all the time. That is the kind of thing that really develops a feeling of community. When everybody sees you cooking it is hard to not invite people to join you. I bet they have block party barbeques all the time. Alison came back here for a while then went to visit her friends on the Island. I'm seeing her again on Friday. She's going to see Red Molly with me. I think she'll like the music and I know she'll love Abbie, Laurie, and Carolann. I could have gone out tonight to see either Kelly Flint's Upstairs Session or Phil Minissale but decided to stay home tonight. I'll prepare for school tomorrow and perhaps get those SMAF pictures online. Can you keep a secret? I broke fashion law today by wearing linen after Labor Day. I'm sorry, it was in the eighties and humid and I wanted to be comfortable. I might wear it to school tomorrow too. If you want to call the fashion police on me fine. It will be on your head. The Batnoses are in second place 4.5 points out of first
