With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

The only way to find the limits of the possible is by going past them into the impossible.

Ace Kree

One of these days I'll start writing as early as I want. I've been up since 8 and it's now 10:21. I just waste so much time in the morning.

After school yesterday I came home and remembered to move my car because of alternate side of the street parking. Even if I have something to do in the City on a Wednesday I have to come home first and move my car.

When I got out of the Subway I was boiling hot. I should have worn my linen to school but I figured I'd only be hot on the ride home so I'd be OK. Next time I put my comfort ahead of fashion.

After I walked a block I heard the ice cream truck and couldn't resist. It was Mr. Softee. He is there pretty much every day. I had another classic exchange with a server. I asked for an ice cream soda and he said, "ace kree?" I wondered if he was a Jafah from Stargate. They say "Jaffa cree!" every time they give an order. I thought than unlikely even though I couldn't place the accent as he didn't have the ritual scar or tattoo on his forehead. So I simply repeated "Ice cream soda." Once again he said, "ace cree?" After this went on a few more times I realized that "ace cree" was the closest he could get to pronouncing "ice cream." Now maybe it's just me but don't you think that if you were hiring someone to work on an ice cream truck you'd get someone that knew the word "ice cream?" Then when I get my soda I see something is wrong. There's a lid on it and he gave me straw but no spoon. I opened up the lid an saw there was no ice cream. When I told him that he said. There is? I mixed it in. What he did was treat it like a milk shake. I think He just put soda and ice cream in the cup an put them in the shake machine. He did not speak nearly enough English for me to explain the right way to make one. I told him to give me a chocolate shake and learn how to make an ice cream soda. I almost got the right order this time. I got a black and white shake. I just drank it. I didn't want to waste more time.

This kind of thing happens to me all the time. Is it just me? Do I just talk about it more?

Last night I went to the Met game with Alan. It was the least enjoyable game of the year. It was interminable and lacked good hitting, pitching, and fielding. There were a ton of hits but many runs, especially by the Mets. They managed just two runs on 11 hits. That's what happens when you have no power and everything is a single. The Mets actually decided at the start of the season to not hit home runs. That must have been made by the same thought processes that led to abstinence only AIDS prevention. Why listen to facts when you have ideology?

Today is a beautiful day. I'll have to find something to do outside. Where can I walk? OH, I know. I'll go up to Fort Totten and see the historic battery if I can get myself moving soon enough. I can stop at Walbaums on the way home and see if they have chicken on sale. That works out well. I’m going to make barbecue chicken for dinner tonight. I'd like to buy some wings and make Buffalo wings soon.

I got news of two things I have to see in the last 12 hours. There is going to be a special one shot performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and even more surprising Renaissance, the first band I ever stalked, is having a reunion tour. There are only two of the original members left, Annie Haslam and Michael Dunford but I can't resist. I hope Carey can make it. He introduced me to them and I think I only saw them one time without him. He's only seen them once without me.

OK now I’m going to get moving so I can see the Historic Battery before it closes at 3.
