With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2001-11-28 - 1:00 a.m. I didn't update yesterday and it's late today. I'm going to use one of my prefab entries today. A few words first though. My father is still sick and no one still knows what's wrong with him. He is going to another doctor tomorrow. After yelling at my classes the last few days, today was the day they had to evaluate me. I'm not really worried, my students like me. I'm hard on them but at least I try to be fun. I watched Buffy tonight when it was broadcast; I usually watch it on tape. The show isn't what it used to be. It has become a teen soap opera crossed with an after school special. They used to save the world while having to deal with their personal problems which were the normal day to day problems that kids have. Now they deal with the major disorders in their lives and maybe fight a vamp or demon or two. Interestingly enough my friends who are most dissatisfied with the show are the other Buffyatrics, Buffy fans over 40. It must be some sort of generational thing. Today is Jimi Hendrix's birthday. I think I wrote about it last year so I'll just say, Go blast some Hendrix! OK now for the main event. My collection of Not So Oddgoogles. These are hits on my Wise Madness that made me happy. 1. romance leonardo da vinci Merejkowski: I make page one of that search! This is one of my favorite books and something I bonded with my father over. He carried all across the battlefields of WWII. 2. "Karl Fredrich Gauss": Page one of that one too. A great mathematician. I won't say too much more now, the last time I mentioned him everyone's eyes glazed over. 3. Gordondon: Neither Carey or I did this search? Who did? Fess up. It must be some big Loudon Wainwright fan. People at WFUV have started calling me that too. 4. "Murray Foster": This was on page 21. Someone really wanted to know all about Murray. Maybe it was one of the llamas. 5. "don't drink the water" "don't breath the air": Some Tom Lehrer fan found me. 6. lyrics to Lena Horne's "Summertime": "Summertime and the living is easy..." See I know some lyrics. 7. Mundus Vult: Veronika wanted to know if I knew Latin. Nope I just am affected. It's nice to see other Cabell fans out there. 8. jim kweskin and samoa: They did a great show this summer. 9. Gorilla Rep: The world's greatest environmental theatre group. They do the best version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." 10. weemaway song: there are only four hits on the page I guess I misspelled it. 11. "jewish banking conspiracy" Bernstein: That was the name of Dan Bern's band the last time I saw him with a band. 12. "poems of alienation": I get this quite a bit actually. Lots of alienated people I guess. 13. "Dan Bern" Kids Prayer: Like I've said, one of the most moving songs of all time. 14. "peanut butter restaurant": mmmpeanutbutter. I see that Shelly got a hit on this too. 15. Cute Irish Redhead: Now whom could I have been describing like that in my diary?
