With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

More Stupider

Last night I went to the seaport to see Rogue’s March and Mary Lee’s Corvette. The crowd was disappointing, there were empty seats. This was a great concert on a day it didn’t rain and it was free. Of course some idiots left full water bottles on two prime seats and people thought they were coming back. They never did.

This was the first time that I’ve seen MLC since they came out with their new album and they are better than ever. They didn’t do my favorite old song, The Status with Gladys, and I still wasn’t disappointed. The new material is that good. Mary Lee Kortes, the leader of the band, introduced the song by saying, this is for everyone who feels too smart sometimes.

I got a letter, got it today
Your spelling’s getting better,
Your punctuation’s OK
Well I’m not an intellectual,
But I’ve heard people say
You got to dumb it down down down
If you wanna get your way

I shoulda been more stupider
A little bit more stupider
Just like the moos of Jupiter
I’d be better off in outer space…

How can you not love a song like that?

After their set I went and bought the new CD and had Mary sign it. She only vaguely remembered me from Sunday. I had to mention that Pete and Maura introduced us. I said hi to Phyllis who was doing merch for Rogue’s March and to Heather from the NYC Irish music contingent. I was surprised that Frank wasn’t there but he arrived a bit later and stopped by my seat to say hi.

When I got back to my seat I saw that Rosie was sitting right behind me. Remember Rosie? I met her when I saw the Prodigals a few weeks ago. Go back and read my first impression of her. We talked till Joe Hurley and Rogue’s March started playing. Joe rocked out as always. He even played a song called Rosie. Now I can never forget her name.

After the concert Rosie and I walked over to the water and started talking. The next time we looked at our watches almost three hours had gone by. It seems like we have a lot in common. I have not made a connection with a stranger like this since I met Heather almost three years ago. I made sure to get not just her email address but also her phone number.

Tonight I’m going to CB’s 313 Gallery with Melissa to see Sam ShabAAAAAr. Sam Shaber to those of you who don’t speak Gordondon. This is good. I’ve been feeling lonely and now, I’ll be spending to evenings in a row was intelligent, beautiful, fun women.
