With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2002-01-09 - 12:47 a.m. I had a boring day today, the only time I got out of the house was to visit my father. Last night I did manage to replace the bulbs in the fixture in my room so I have decent light again. Things are really boring here and I haven't had any deep insights. I think I'll keep this entry short and just cheat a bit. Now for the Daily LOTR Update : I finished book II. Now that doesn't mean I'm two thirds done with the trilogy. As I've said before LOTR isn't a trilogy, it is one long book usually printed in three volumes. The novel is divided up into 6 books plus appendices. The edition I'm reading now has each book being a separate volume. I'm up to The Riders of Rohan which is usually found in The Two Towers volume two of three. I picked my quote from Farewell to Lorien 'May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out' Now for the real cheater: Deirdre Flint puts out a little newspaper called Deirdre Flint is the Folksinger There is an illustration of her as a superhero. It is very funny. One of the features in it is a "mad lib." I had Leah fill in the words. This is what we came out with. Folk Gossip Central What a year of scandal, graft and heartbreak it was in the multi-billion dollar folk industry! Perhaps it was a sing when it was discovered that Vance Gilbert was a closet member of the NRA. And after the two-faced traitor had just come out with the moving, traditional folk album "Weasel Trains and Squish Angels!" Obviously no tears were shed when he was thrown happily in jail by the IRS. They suspected he was involved in SOME illegal activity when he show a profit on his tax return. They accused him of being involved in an underground Platypus racing ring. Cheryl Wheeler has quit the folk biz after her last CD sold only -3.75 copies. Not surprising after it was discovered that when you played it backwards you heard the words, "gee Willikers." Besides the percussion was all synthesized anyway. She's now pedaling crack whores door to door. And of course we all mourn the selling-out of legendary blues musician Dirty Gordon Pomegranate, writer of the great hits, "Divine Doorknob Blues" and North Northeast Hell Shuffle just to name a couple. He's now singing backup for BB Mack! Some say he just had enough of the hard world of folk after he collapsed in a haze at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Let's hope next year brings better news!
