With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

Merch Maven Minion Mania

I wish I could not feel guilty when I don't update. I had a good reason too. Shelly stayed over last night and we got in late. If I had gotten a decent night's sleep I'd have updated this morning but I didn't.

The big news yesterday was the Robbie of EFO/ DaVinci's Notebook show.

After class I waited in my office for Shelly to arrive. I work 6 blocks for the venue, Makor. Shelly arrived a bit after 4 and after saying hi to Carey online we went down to the Carnegie Deli to eat. I haven't been there in years and their prices had gone up, they are a few dollars more than Katz's and not as good. The food is still great though. I didn't have a great appetite; I think it was the fault of the photos on the wall. There was one of Ollie North, one of the Olsen Twins and one of just Ashley Olsen, or was that Mary Kate? I'm very happy I don't really know them apart.

We then walked up to the Venue. Shelly or as Robbie said, "The lovely and talented Shelly," was doing merch and Robbie told them I was too so we got to go in early. I was the official merch maven minion. Shelly set up while DVN was doing part of their sound check. They were all their but Gregory **swoon**.

Kat was meeting us there with two of her friends, Erica and Matt so I saved a table for us. They actually had 6 seats for a 4-person table so it was a bit tight. JJ and Anita asked if they could join us and sat in the other two seats. It was really nice seeing Kat again, I hadn't seen her since FRFF. She's coming in again next week to see Jian but I'm seeing The Kennedys and Mary Lee's Corvette. Melissa showed up a bit after JJ and Anita but there wasn't room at our table. She got a seat at the next table so things worked out.

The show was great. I had never seen Robbie solo before. He had one old solo song I really liked 30 Second Love Affair. I bought his album but haven't listened to it yet. I also bought the DVN single whose name I won't mention.

DVN is one of those groups that automatically make me happy. I realized how much like the Marx Bros they are. It is a non-stop assault on reality with free association. They actually called on me during requestorama; I requested Johnny Saucep'n. Paul actually knew the words, I and the other Früheads were very impressed. As I guessed they would; they also called on Kat. She requested The Lion Sleeps Tonight they wouldn't do it but gave her another pic and she requested Eddie's Concubine by EFO.

I luckily remembered to say Hi to Bernie for Carey. I told him that she would have caused me "Severe bodily harm" if I had forgotten. He said; "No Carey is one of the sweetest people. When she gave us the army men that was one of the best things that ever happened at a show." Bernie Rocks. I'm a Bernie's person. Bernie had an entire cheering section last night. He found that he could make the crowd say "hey" however he wanted to by using his hands and couldn't keep from playing with his new toy. Later when Richard did it he cried. Richard played with his toy without Bernie's permission. I love those guys.

After the show the plan was to get coffee with Kat but we had to wait too long for Robbie and she had to catch a train. We helped load Robbie's car as they were kicking us out of the building.

We had an easy ride back to my house and then had the ritual exchange of hugs and presents. We didn't stay up too late though, 2AM, we both needed our sleep.

I didn't get mine though. I woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. I did finish the second Harry Potter book today because of that.

In the morning Shelly made her world famous waffles in her Grinch Waffle maker. They are the best. My father had one too which is good, he needs to gain weight.

Shelly left after breakfast. I get to see her in a couple of weeks when we are both going to Carey's too see Christine Lavin.

This afternoon I took my father to dialysis and read. I better stop writing now or I'd be writing about how I'm writing this entry.

Tomorrow Lawrence is coming so I might not update again till Sunday. Till then: Farewell wherever you fare.
