With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
April 16, 2003 - 4:22 p.m. Suddenly it’s summer. A couple of weeks ago it was snowing and now it is 86° outside. The air conditioning in school is not on high enough so it is boiling in here. My class was very uncomfortable and they got a bit out of hand today. I had to threaten to walk out to get them back in line. I hate when things like that happen. I also breathed in chalk and had a coughing fit in class. Before a forget: ERRATTA-In the earlier editions of my last entry I referred to the film as “Mighty Wind” not “A Mighty Wind.” I also called the duo “Mike and Mickey” instead of Mitch and Mickey. A couple of entries ago I titled my entry Dum Spiro Spero. Did those of you who didn’t know what it means look it up? It means, “While I breathe I hope.” I learned it because it was in the introduction to The Wit and Wisdom of Spiro Agnew. The book is an introduction then blank pages. I started beating myself up this morning but I think I’m over it. Half the things I think about writing here I never write about. I discard them for being overdramatic, pedantic, or just plain whining. If I followed my inclinations there’d be some dead horses beaten to a pulp. I’m not sure but I think some people think of me as easy going. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m really highly strung. I get filled with righteous indignation. I just tend to let it go without comment a lot of the time. I know it won’t do any good. The problem with editing out all that stuff is it sometimes leaves me with nothing to write about. So instead of railing on and on about how I have nothing to write about I’ll just end this.
