With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2002-05-11 - 5:07 p.m. It is amazing how my ratings have crashed? Where did everyone go? Last year May was my best ratings month too. Maybe I spend too much time complaining that no one is reading me. Errata: When mentioning things I have in common with my friends I missed one with Shelly aka Sillyshelly aka Shellyus: Da Vinci's Notebook. Have I mentioned that I'm a total donut? Yesterday I went off to the Bottom Line to see the Beat goes on show. One big problem, the show is next week. When I got and told Neil who works there what happened he said, "You're an idiot." I guess that just about sums it up. I didn't want to waste my trip in to the city so I did hanging around the East Village thing. I bought 24 of Hank Williams' Greatest Hits at Sounds. It's about time I added Hank to my collection. When I was in High School there was a late night TV offer for a collection of Hank Williams greatest hits and we always made fun of it. The commercials were awful but that doesn't mean that I couldn't have realized how great the music was. It was so different than what I was used to though that I couldn't appreciate it. Yodeling is an acquired taste. After shopping for CDs and action figures I made my way over to the Sidewalk Café. I saw a couple of acts there neither of which impressed me that much. The first was Emerald. I don't know if that was the name of the act or the singer. There was a young woman from Australia I believe who was accompanied by a keyboardist/drummer on a few of her songs. She was really cute but the music was generic. The second act was Cole Gentles. He played uninspired Rock and Roll. I liked his drummer though, he had toys. He wasn't satisfied just playing the drums as they were. He kept a tambourine on the snare drum and would sometimes hit the tambourine and sometimes the drum. Whichever he hit the bells on the tambourine would chime. On some songs he held a maraca in his hand as he drummed and on others he had shaker eggs tied to the drumstick. At one point a shaker egg broke loose and hit the woman doing sound right in the face. Rock and Roll is a dangerous business. The drummer was actually really good; too bad I can't say the same for the rest of the music. Chris Barron from the Spin Doctors was playing there last night but he wasn't scheduled to go on till 11 so I decided not to wait around. I still enjoy doing things like that even when the music isn't great. There is always the hope that I can find someone really good like Ruth Gerson. I got a call at 9:10 this morning from Helene. She is a woman that used to work with Chez and that always wants me to work for her. I have always resisted but I need the money now so I guess I will. It will keep me in green till the fall semester starts and I'll have the freedom to make my own schedule so it won't interfere with FRFF and everything else I have planned this summer. I'll have to let her know not to call me so early though. I would never call anyone before 10 on a weekend and will usually wait till 11 unless I know their habits. The Mets finally won a game today!! They had lost 6 in a row. I have to keep reminding myself a team is never as good as it looks when it's winning or as bad as it looks when it's losing. Jaci mentioned in her diary that she wish that there was a "smart Buffy" board she could post on so I started a Smart Buffy Yahoo group. If you are a Buffy Fan feel free to Join. I hate it when I can't tie up an entry. I think I'm stuck though. There is no overriding theme today, no insights, nothing to bring it all together. I guess the world is like that sometimes so my diary will just have to reflect that.
