With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2002-08-18 - 10:20 a.m. My Diaryland buddy list disappeared. I’m going to have to try and recreate it. If you remember what I wrote in your comment let me know. Last night I went to see the Gorilla Rep production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I wrote about them in an entry last year. I had heard that this was going to be their last season so I talked to Christopher Sanderson, the producer and artistic director. He told met that the problem as I expected was money. A Gorilla Rep foundation has been started. When it is up and running the company will operate on the interested generated by the foundation’s endowment. This means their might be a year or two hiatus till they have another production. I’m going to really miss it. The best things about summer are folk festivals, baseball and the Gorilla Rep. When I told Chris how much it means to me he said that I should write a letter, that it would help them raise money. I’ll do that tonight. The production was great as always. The wet weather kept the crowd down. I was glad I brought my stadium chair with me, I didn’t have to stand or sit on the wet ground. Tad Carducci, the actor playing Puck seemed to take a special interest in me. In different scenes he laid his head in my lap, messaged my head, and stole my glasses. Have I mentioned that the Gorilla Rep is very interactive? Whenever I think about Joy acting in Shakespeare I imagine her in the Gorilla Rep. I’d love to see her in it. I can see her as Hermia. This morning I drove my mother to the airport, she is going to Dallas to visit my sister, Sue. This was her first time using an e-ticket so she was nervous. She made me drive her their two hours before the flight. An hour later would have been perfect as I’m going to the Met game today and I’d have gone straight to the game. As it is it was too early. Some people object to my saying “Met game,” as opposed to “Mets game.” I am simply following the usage of all the newspapers including the New York Times. To do otherwise would be an affectation on my part and god knows I have enough of those already. I’m doing something I never do today, driving to the game. I’m doing that because I have to drive up to the Turning Point in Piermont, New York. I’m going to see Dave’s True Story, one of my favorite local bands. Most years I see them at least ten times, they haven’t been playing nearly as often since Kelly had her baby. I better cut this short. I have to leave for the Met game soon. Because I’m driving I have to get there very early. That is the reason I usually use public transportation. That and the fact that parking is $9.
