With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2001-11-21 - 12:02 a.m. I have not in the best state of mind recently. I was contemplating discontinuing this diary. I have decided to forgo the poem of the day. I don't think anyone is going to miss it. I thought the show tonight at the Bottom Line would provide a pick-me-up. I was wrong. Tonight's Gift of Music II was a big letdown after the first one. It was basically one band with guest artists. The guests were good, Roseanne Cash, Freedie Johnston, Marc Cohen, and Joan Osborne but the didn't do their own material. The highlight was the geek show. The guy sitting next to me made believe he was a heckler and went onstage and did a sword-swallowing act. Now that's entertainment. It was much shorter than the first show so I was able to make the 10:49 train with no trouble instead of racing for the 1:19 like I did the first time. I was really unhappy about being at the show alone. I go to shows alone all the time. Why is this bothering me now? I was feeling very lonely the whole time. It is so easy to find things to make you unhappy if you look for them. I was seeing the dark cloud behind every silver lining. Tomorrow I'm seeing that Buster Keaton/Blue Grassy Knoll show with Marti. I hope that makes me feel better. I just checked to see how my friends are doing in the North American Bridge Championships. Farley and Roy didn't do anything but Larry and Paul's team came in second in a bracketed KO. I've been to three nationals but Vegas is a bit far for me. I'll go to the one in DC and of course the one in NYC in 2004 I thought I'd have a nice long meaty entry tonight. I was wrong. At least you are spared a poem.
