With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2001-11-25 - 10:34 p.m. Not a happy day in Horvendileland today. I was awakened by my mother and told that we had to take my father to the emergency room. Things really weren't that different than they had been but he was short of breath on top of everything else. I hate going to the emergency room, for myself or anyone else. It always is a frustrating experience. You have to wait forever and tend to get ignored. Things were actually much better at LIJ than I've ever seen in an ER. They took him in almost immediately. The problem is one they had him in there wasn't much they could do. They couldn't find what's wrong with him any more than his doctor could. They x-rayed his lungs and they were fine. They were going to keep him overnight just to give him oxygen and then get him oxygen for use at home on Monday but his blood oxygen levels were fine even when he walked around. So in the end we spent the day there to no avail. I think that my father wanted to go in because he is frustrated that his doctors have not been able to help him and he hoped the hospital doctors might. I'm thinking now that the problem might be caused by the meds he is taking for his heart. IN any event he is supposed to call his doctor tomorrow and we'll see what's he has to say. My family sure keeps the doctors busy. On the lighter side I saw myself on TV today. I missed most of the show but I caught the end of a show that was recorded at the Bottom Line. It was the In Their Own Words show with Dan Bern, Don Dixon, Marti Jones, and Darius Rucker that I went to. I could see Lisa and myself quite clearly a few times. I have actually lost count of the number of times I've been on TV. It is the kind of thing that seems cool till you actually do it. Then you find it isn't very exciting at all. OK being on Jeopardy was exciting but that was different. I'm having some more anxiety now. Carey was supposed to get in around 7 and it's now10:31 and she isn't home yet. I'm sure it is just delays, Neal would have let me know if there were a real problem but even delays can be bloody annoying. OK that is it for tonight. I'm keeping it short but sweet. It wasn't an easy day and I don't feel like going off on one of my rambling digressions tonight.
