With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
-Steven Weinberg

The good life, as I conceive it, is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy - I mean that if you are happy you will be good.
-Bertrand Russell

Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.
-Miguel de Cervantes

I enjoy paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.

28 flavors of DTS

Last night I went to see Dave’s True Story last night at the Howard Johnson’s in Times square. It was a ten O’clock show so I drove in. I used to drive into midtown all the time, now I hardly ever do it. It isn’t the easiest area to park. My old trick still worked, if you look west of eight avenue you can find something. I parked on 47th street and 10th avenue. About an eight minute walk. In my lifetime that neighborhood has gone from being Hell’s Kitchen to Clinton.

I got there at almost exactly ten and had to find a place to sit. I thought the lounge was a separate room but it was just at one end of the restaurant. All the nearby booths were taken but there was one seat at a table for two right up front open. I asked the woman sitting there if I could sit and she said yes. I always feel very at home seeing DTS. I’ve seen them so many times over the years. Kelly mentioned that so many of the people there were loyal long time fans. The only one I knew was Linus. During the intermission I talked to Linus, Kelly, and Jeff. Jeff impressed me, he is the bass player. He told me that he played with Tim Buckley. I was surprised that he was old enough for that. I knew he was good enough.

One great advantage of having a show at HoJo’s. When I ordered a drink it was a milk shake. I can get used to that. Music and together is great. If I can somehow figure out how to work sex in there I’d be hitting the trifecta.

The show ended at about a quarter after midnight but I ended up hanging around for another half an hour. I made decent time getting home so it wasn’t really that late a night.

A holiday weekend is coming up and you know what that means. I’m going to be lonely and depressed. I totally forgot that I have a Met game tonight. That’s good. I’ll be with Alan and Larry and have fun. That is if it doesn’t rain. I wouldn’t mind so much but somebody, I won’t say who because I don’t want to embarrass Carey, borrowed my poncho at FRFF and never returned it.

I don’t have any other plans all weekend. Maybe I’ll just stay home and read Emma. I’ll have to see if I can find something else to do even if I can’t find anyone to do it with.
