With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
2001-10-18 - 10:13 p.m. I spoke to Leah on the phone yesterday. She sang me this beautiful song she is writing. It's not finished yet but it's great. She has so much talent. She's been having a really tough time recently as she wrote about in her diary . If you know and care about her it's a good time to say hi, email, snail mail, or give her a call on the phone. I was going to write another in the series of intelligence entries but I don't think I'm up to it today. I'm not at my happiest. Now this fits in well with the other thing I wanted to write about, something to lift anyone's spirits. Today is the birthday of Charles Edward Anderson Berry, you know him better as Chuck. I'm writing this while I listen to my Best of Chuck Berry CD. His time of greatest creativity wasn't long but he came out with a lot of great songs in that short time. Between 1955 and 1957 he wrote Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven, Brown Eyed Handsome Man, Rock and Roll Music, Sweet Little Sixteen, and Johnny B. Goode . Ironically he never had a number 1 hit till 1972 with the novelty song My Ding-A-Ling. This was of course due to racism. In the fifties his songs were made hits by white artists like Pat Boone. If you want to see something truly embarrassing watch a video of Pat Boone doing Little Richard's Tutti Fruity . Chuck's songs defined Rock 'n' Roll. This was the first time that teens had their own music, before then parents and the kids would listen to the same songs. Chuck's songs are the embodiment of youthful exuberance. I love a quote by John Lennon, "If you were to give Rock 'n' Roll another name you might call it Chuck Berry. On more thing before I go. How do you like the snazzy new background? I have a stupid way of learning the html I need. I do what I want using Netscape composer then look at the source code to see what it did.
